It’s that time again… the awards show season.  Off I went to photograph the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium.  Unlike previous years, today is beautiful day with blue skies without a single threat of rain.  The crowds were going crazy as their favorite celebrities appeared on the Red Carpet.  Click on the image above to view the full gallery. Today I woke up early and double check my camera gear and prep for Amy  and Stephen’s wedding.  I’m particularly anxious about this wedding because Amy and I have been friends for many years.  I really want to do a good job for her.  :-)   Today is not only important for Amy and Stephen but their family as well.  Many have traveled from far away places such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other states.  A lot is at stake to say the least.

During the wedding reception, Amy asked me to put together of a slideshow of images photographed thus far on her wedding day.  I was able to create the slideshow above on the fly.  Whew! I did it in record time while everyone enjoyed the festivities.  I got many compliments and if I do say so myself, I think it was a “HIT”!  :-D

Congratulations Amy and Stephen on your nuptial and thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer!  Have a fantastic life together!

Vijay Armitraj hosted his annual charity event at Braemar Country Club. Leander Paes and his partner Mahesh Buphati arrived from Cincinnati to play on his charity event. I was lucky enough to get Leander’s autograph and a picture with him. He’s so awesome to watch in person… With his display of quick volleys, touch and angles! Inspiring! I’m hoping I can do that tomorrow’s match! LOL

I had the pleasure of photographing the Cantonese Opera Karaoke Dinner Gala featuring young talents from Hong Kong.  Their ages range from ripe old age of 7 to 14!  Many of these fine youngsters started their career in Chinese Opera at age 4.  Don’t let their tiny exterior fool you.  They performed like seasoned professionals rivaling performers 30-50 years their senior.  What a treat!  I was very proud of my heritage because they are the future and the preservation of our Chinese Performing Arts.  The event sponsor and dignitaries include Esther and Dr. K.L. Chung, Yvonne and Dr. George Leung, and City Councilwoman Polly Low.

I met Kim and Jacob through a mutual friend, the beautiful Maria Timpani, several months ago.  I immediately became very fond of this lovely couple while they were viewing my sample wedding images.  Their love exudes through their gaze and interaction with me.  I was captivated by their energy and love for each other.  Needless to say, it was a beautiful wedding ceremony at Pasadena and then off we went to Kim’s parents house for the afternoon reception.  Kim’s parents and family was so delightful and hospitable to not only their guests but to me as well.  They made me feel welcome and part of their guests rather than a hired professional at their wedding.  I seldom gets teary eye at weddings but I could not help it when Jacob made his thank you speech and how genuinely he thanked Kim’s parents for having such a lovely wonderful daughter.  Moreover, he thanked them for allowing him to become part of their family by marrying Kim.

I first met Jennifer and Rich back in May during their engagement session.  Right away I felt the positive energy from our lovely couple!  What a treat it was for me to photograph their special day which filled with joy, laughter, and an emotional moment showcased by none other our groom.  Rich was overwhelmed with so much love and affection for Jennifer that he let out his genuine emotion during the wedding ceremony.  Needless to say, there were not a single dry pair of eyes among the guests.  I wish them all the joy and happiness as they spend the rest of their lives together.

I woke up early today, washed up, shaved (for once on the weekends), got on my favorite summer suit… practiced my British accent (just kidding) to have English Tea with my family to celebrate my sister Esther’s birthday.  We headed to Pasadena at a quaint location called “Rosetree Cottage Inn“.  It’s the cutest little English cottage.  Although it was quite cramped in the eating area, but we all enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea with scones, and finger sandwiches.  We all practiced sipping tea with our pinky stuck up in the air.  :-)

Yes, Esther is my older sister although you can’t really tell that I’m younger than her.  She used to babysit me quite a bit when I was a little lad (yes, more English reference).  I guess she is blessed with Father Time standing still.  :-)   With much Love, Hugs, and Kisses… Happy Birthday my dear sis!  Thanks for taking such good care of me through the years!

When I first spoke with Jennifer on the phone, I immediately liked her high energy personality.  Naturally, I was looking forward to her engagement session so that I can meet her in person.  She greeted me with such warmth as if we’ve known each other for years!  Rich is equally personable, and I can tell these two are a perfect couple.  Love and happiness are apparent when they are together.  It’s no wonder that I felt the same way around them.  I was surprised to hear that they met merely a year ago, but they love each other so much that they felt compelled to spend the rest of their lives together.  What a blessing to be able to find your soul mate!

At first, we were concerned with the windy weather at Newport Beach.  But it turned out to be the perfect day to photograph our lovely couple.  At dusk, early evening light provided perfect lighting for this special occasion.  They really touched me, perhaps it’s the lighting, but I bet it’s because I saw the love between them through the eyepiece of my camera.  :-)
